I'm pulling up on my 200th review on BeerAdvocate here in the next few beers, so I figure I need to update the 26 loyal readers I have.
Last night, I grabbed a Goose Island Harvest Ale at the store. I haven't had much experience with the ESB style and frankly, I didn't know it was an ESB. I've had this one as a sample a few times, but I always thought it was an APA, but oh well. It was solid beer. Slightly more malty than hoppy, and not really that bitter. It was enjoyable, not something I'd by a 6-pack of, but not bad. Check out the full review here.
And now on to review number 198. Tonight I had a Franziskaner Dunkel Hefeweizen. Not a bad beer, but totally not what I was expecting. I had a more traditional German dark lager in mind, but this darker wheat beer was what I got. In reality, it tastes just like a normal hefeweizen, with just a hint of darker, caramel malt at the end. Check out the full review here.
Alright, so we're 2 beers away from 200. I put a poll up on BA and the good men there have determined that the Bourbon County Brand Stout I just picked up the other day. I'm not sure what number 199 will be, but we'll find out soon enough. Until next time, go Reds!
