(Almost) Victory Beer

Alright people,

First off, I'm sorry it's been a while since my last post, but I have good excuses. It's finals week here at Purdue, and that means it's time to actually learn stuff. After studying most of Sunday through Tuesday, I have 3 of 4 finals done. That means it's time for a beer!

Tonight I stopped by the store after taking the second and third of my four finals and grabbed a Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale. This beer is a black IPA, which is a style I have enjoyed before, and I really was looking forward to this one. I wasn't disappointed. This beer had way more of a hop presence than others of the style, and the mix with burnt malts was pretty sublime. Only drawback was a slight chemical-like flavor towards the end, but it wasn't too much of an issue. Check out my full review here.

In another update, this past Friday I grabbed a Finch's Secret Stache Stout. This is known as a chocolate/sweet stout, which is one of my favorite styles, and it did not disappoint. I cracked the pint-sized can and poured; with tons of chocolate and vanilla flavors meeting my nose. This thing was delicious! Great chocolate and other sweet flavors combined with a solid base stout made for a great drink. This is the closest thing to a chocolate milkshake beer I've ever had. And to top it off, when I tweeted my review, Finch's retweeted it! It's about time that I get a RT from a brewery. Anyway, here's my full review.

And last, but certainly not least, you may have noticed Gnomes in the top photo. The Reds made some moves today! I love when baseball peaks into my cold winter months, and the Reds did just that last night trading away Drew Stubbs. Now Stubbs hasn't been my favorite player the past few seasons, but I love his speed and defense. THat being said, the man could not hit a barn while driving his truck at the plate. For Sending away Stubbs and up and coming shortstop Didi Gregorious, the Reds got their leadoff man in Shin Shoo Choo. Despite coming from Cleveland (booo!) he played very well last year out of the leadoff spot and will provide JoeyMVP and DatDudeBP with plenty more RBI opportunities. I'm excited and think the Reds will have a good chance to contend once again next year. Here's hoping the Reds are in the Fall Classic next year!

Until next time, cheers, and go Redlegs!

-Chris
