Alright people,
First off, my bad on not getting another post up Sunday. Sometimes life gets too busy for you, and with 2 exams on Tuesday, my life had way bigger plans for me than I did. Anyway...
The purpose of this post is to recap the Budweiser Project 12 beers. I've explained this project in a previous post, so go read that if you don't know what Project 12 is. For the remaining 2 beers in the pack, check my reviews here and here.
So, overall, I loved the concept of Project 12 from its announcement. The idea is what brewing should be about, brewmasters getting to display their individual talents and tastes. The part about this project that was a little different was the guidelines for the beer recipes. Having to use "traditional Budweiser traits" in making the beer limited the brewmasters some, but the concept is still great.
In the end, each of the beers were good beers. None of them were ground breaking in style, but each was unique. By preference, I think I would rank them LA, Williamsburg, St. Louis. I had high hopes for the Williamsburg beer that was aged with vanilla beans on oak staves, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. On the other hand, the beer from the LA brewery was a pretty good amber lager. Good caramel flavors without being too heavy. Last, the St. Louis beer was just a standard German style pils. Not bad, but not my style.
Now, on to something new; another wet hop ale. This time I'm going with Founders Harvest Ale. This one is very highly rated by most on BeerAdvocate, so I have high hopes for my second wet hop ale. Let the tasting commence!
Overall, this a a solid IPA. My second venture into the wet hop ale realm was better than my first (Broo Doo), but I think the style isn't my cup of tea. This one was a little watery and light for an IPA, and the complexity of flavors between hops and other flavors wasn't optimal. Still, another good beer by Founders (review).
There you have it, the long awaited post that should have been on here Sunday night. Until next time, cheers!
-Chris
