Boring Week...

Alright people,

So you'd think being a senior engineering student taking 18 credit hours that I'd have little free time, and frankly, that's usually the case. But this week has been way different.

I've found myself in the lawless wasteland that is time between exams and project work. I have 2 classes with projects due at the end of the semester, and in one of those classes, the project is the class. Still, having no exams this week, no project deadlines in the near future, and all relevant homework having been due Monday, I've been a little bored.

On the bright side, I've had time to workout this week, and plan my workouts for the rest of the week. Another positive is the fact that I can actually read the readings that go with the courses I'm taking. On the not-so-bright side, I've had way too much down time. I'm not really into the ALCS or the NLCS, seeing as the Reds let me down. To be honest, I watch a few innings of the NLCS hoping that maybe there is a way that neither team can win.

As anyone who knows me well knows, when I'm bored scary things happen. I mean, this blog was born out of my early semester boredom this year. Go back to freshman year, when first semester I had 15 credit hours and less of a social life while trying to adjust to college life; then I got a 2.64 GPA. Well, let's just be thankful 3 years later, my life is way more hectic, and my GPA is way better.

Anyway, life update aside, I am bored again tonight, so it was beer reviewing time earlier. I grabbed one of the 2 or 3 beers in my fridge that I'm not trying to cellar or save for a relatively special occasion, and it happened to be a Bourbon Barrel Aged Insidious Imperial Stout from Allentown Brewworks.

I liked this one. Normally, I find a lot of bourbon barrel aged stouts overpowering to aggressive. I enjoy them nonetheless, but I like when the bourbon is a little subdued. This beer really brought out the balanced side of a BA stout. It doesn't overpower you with barrel or bourbon flavor, but melds it into an enjoyable drink. Downside was that as this one warms up, the flavors become more harsh. Usually, I find it the other way around, but this one was a little better slightly chilled. Anyway, I think I wrote a particularly good review of this one; go check it out if you're interested. I'm not sure the availability of this one anymore, since it was an extra in a trade, but if you're a reader in Pennsylvania, it sound like this Allentown Brewworks is worth a visit.

As a last note, I'd just like to ask all of you readers for a little help. I came up with this blog idea being bored and thinking I could get some friends into the beer scene, but the driving force here is mainly me. I'd like to get some feedback and encourage the use of the comments feature on this site. If you have general criticism or feedback, please leave it in email form. You will find the blog email address on the "Contact Us" tab. The comments I would love to see used as a place where people can sound off on their opinions on beers or topics we talk about. I know a lot of them are harder to come by, and I don't expect a lot of my readers to have had them, I'd just love to get some more interaction between the writers and readers going.

Thanks with everything people, and until next time, cheers!
-Chris
