Uggghhh, so I have an exam tomorrow morning in class and am currently lacking any motivation to continue studying so......beer break!
Taking it easy on a Thursday night is fine, but trying to study and not have a beer at all sucks. Tonight, I grabbed a 'sour' beer from the liquor store in New Belgium and The Lost Abbey's collaboration; Brett Beer. To be honest, I'm a little disappointed in this one on the sour end, but it's not a bad beer at all. If you're a fan of Belgian beer at all, this is probably right up your alley. The brett in this one dominates, providing an almost bready, yeast flavor throughout the drink. Not bad, just not my style. Check out my full review here.
Now, on to the fn part of the post, the reason there is a John Deere ball in the picture. I'm heading home this weekend to go to the Franklin County Antique Farm Machinery Show. It's something I've gone to with my dad for years, but with college and stuff, I haven't been able to go the past 3 years. And as for John Deere, well, we're taking the 1950 John Deere Model A as usual. It's a nice, reliable, old 2-cylinder tractor that I learned how to drive some time ago. Also, Dad got the old 1947 Model B running for the first time in years this year. Then he checked the serial number again, and it turns out that it's a 1944 model. Quite a surprise considering that it's been in the family for a long time and we always thought it was a '47.
Anyway, you can see Gnomes peaking at the camera in the background; and the Reds won today in comeback fashion! The playoffs will start in a week, and the way it looks now, the Reds will be the #1 or #2 seed in the NL. Frankly, neither seed is ideal, but with the way the playoffs are setup this year, the #1 seed is definitely the better of those two options. Oh well, this is Bud Selig's league and we're just fans of it. Next year the format will change, and hopefully the Reds are in the same position.
Until next time, cheers!
