Friday Night Advocating

Alright people,

It's Friday, and if you're like me, that means drinking. Grabbed a couple of new beers in the fridge and reviewed them with some homemade BBQ pizza.

First off was a Founders Red's Rye PA with dinner...

It was a tough call, but I think the pizza was the best part. (I like cooking, so this blog may have some stuff about cooking too.) The pizza was excellent because I finally got the right amount of Sweet Baby Ray's on it, but Red's was pretty good too. I enjoyed the fairly prominent hop profile, but it wasn't too overpowering. Check out the full review here. Up next was a local beer from Sun King Brewery in Indianapolis that I was looking forward to after a recommendation from a friend.

Well, I have to say I was disappointed in this one. For a Scotch Ale, this one was terribly thin and light in the malt department. Flavor was mostly malt, but everything was a little watered down.

All in all, tonight was a great food night and an average beer night. Founders continued their streak of excellent beer from my viewpoint. Literally everything I've had of their's (with maybe one slight exception) is world class. I don't know how they do it, but as long as they keep doing it, I don't care.

Headed out to have a few drinks with some friends and watch the Boise State-MSU game. I'm hoping for a shootout and I don't know who to root for. On one hand MSU is among my favorite B1G teams (that isn't Purdue and not during basketball season (Boo Tom Izzo!)), and on the other hand I love rooting for the little guy in Boise State. We'll see how it goes.

Not sure if I can make it here tomorrow to post, but if I don't, do yourself a favor and find a local or micro brew and enjoy it tonight. College football starts tomorrow, and it's a 3 day weekend, so maybe a whole case is necessary. Boiler Up!

Cheers!
-Chris
